Grove Program (Completed Kindergarten)

The Grove program has been developed for campers who have completed one year of Kindergarten. These are the youngest campers on camp and the program is focused on a joyful introduction to camp life in a structured and nurturing environment. Every day follows the same routine yet includes a variety of different activities. Swim lessons and a ‘free’ swim are provided every day in the shallow end (3ft) of one of the brand new pools. Each day also includes an element of adventure (boating, fishing, high-wires, archery, nature), a sports & games time, a creative arts project, and time for recess/play at the playground or on the field. There are 30 campers split into 4 groups and they are led by a dedicated Coordinator and 8 Counselors.

General Camp Wing Program (Completed Grades 1 - 6)

Camp Wing is designed to ensure that campers experience seemingly endless days that bring countless opportunities to explore, create, compete, and celebrate the wonders of being a kid in a traditional camp setting. Groups are coordinated by age into three villages: Forest, Ocean and Jungle. Groups of approximately 12 rotate through daily swim lessons and a free swim, adventure activities (ropes course, archery, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, climbing wall), creative arts (camp crafts, improv, performances), sports (basketball, soccer, volleyball, kickball, flag football), as well as team building activities and general camp fun!

Alpine Program (Completed Grade 7)

Alpine is the first year of the teen camper programs at Camp Wing. It is a program where they can still enjoy all that camp has to offer, while being given more independence and choice within activities. They follow the general camp schedule, but activities are specially designed with increased levels of challenge and friendly competition. The program is designed to ensure that participants are leading themselves in a positive and responsible way, and setting a good example for the younger campers. The program will accommodate participants that want to enjoy being a camper, as well as those that are keen to develop into LIT’s and future staff. An optional Late Night (9 PM pickup) will be included on the second Tuesday of each session, where there will be additional evening activities, dinner and a campfire. The optional late night will be for an additional fee.

Leaders in Training - LIT 1 & LIT 2 (Completed Grades 8 - 9)

LIT 1 is designed for teen campers with an interest in developing teamwork and leadership skills through more advanced camp activitis and experiences, and beginning to lead others around them. The opportunities will include taking the lead with peers, as well as shadowing counselors working with the younger campers.

LIT 2 is the next step on the Camp Wing leadership journey and is designed for teen campers who are specifically interested in becoming a Crossroads staff member (or a leader in other youth development work) in the future. Through a variety of hands-on learning experiences, such as practicing facilitation of group activities, these LIT’s will continue to build their confidence and leadership skills in preparation for more responsibility and staff positions in the future. Many of the amazing counselors at Camp Wing were once LIT’s.

The LIT 1 and 2 experience includes one optional Late Night (9 PM pickup) experience each session on the first Wednesday of each session, where there will be additional evening activities, dinner and a campfire. There will also be an optional field trip on the second Wednesday of each session to a program aligned experience e.g. kayaking, mountain biking, sailing, ropes course. The optional field trip will be for an additional fee and includes transportation.

notes from our camp parents & caregivers

"My son makes great friends, has fun playing outdoors and comes home exhausted (in a good way). Swimming - he finally got his deep end tag yesterday and was SO excited, we attribute that to him being comfortable being in the pool every day and trying to stick toward the goal of getting that tag. He feels a huge sense of accomplishment and is so excited. He also loves being outside majority of the day (and whole summer) which is incredible. He’s now in session 3 so he has changed counselors and met new camper friends each session which is terrific for making new friends."

“My daughter can see herself as Camp counselor or swim instructor someday :)”

“He is confident at camp and is treated well, and he tries new things (highwire, archery) that he might not otherwise be exposed to. He enjoys the variety of activities, from cloud watching to Wizards Elves and Giants, boating, whirlpool Wednesdays. He was overjoyed to receive the tie dye t shirt at end of session 2. He is appreciated for his knowledge about U.S. presidents. He is included and challenged, and it’s great!!”

“Joy! Happiness! Summer fun!”
