My child has special needs.  Can he/she attend Camp Wing Day Camp?
Camp Wing Day Camp is an inclusive community.  It is our goal that each child at camp has a successful and healthy experience – socially, emotionally, and physically.  If your child has assistance needs, please call our office and let our staff know before your camper’s first day so we can help ensure this success. Examples include: Learning difficulties or instructions better understood when given a specific way, Extra notification or supervision before/while transitioning between activities, Significant anxiety about being away from home/parents, Significant social difficulties in group settings.
 
What should my child bring to camp?
Backpack, lunch, complete change of clothes, bathing suit, towel, bug repellant (non-aerosol), waterproof sunscreen, water bottle, and a sweatshirt or rain coat for cool/rainy days.  Campers should always wear sneakers.  For safety reasons, flip-flops may only be worn to/from the pool.
 
Thank you for your help and cooperation in ensuring that campers do not bring the following items to camp: valuables such as jewelry or money, electronics, cell phones, toys or anything they would be upset about losing or breaking. Camp is large with lots of activities and people, and the camp/camp staff cannot be responsible for personal items that are lost or broken. Knives, weapons or firearms of any kind are not permitted at camp. Crossroads does not allow illegal substances.  If inappropriate items are brought to camp, our staff reserves the rights to hold those items and return them to the camper’s parent at the end of camp.
 
What if my child needs to leave early/arrive late?
If you need to pick up your child from camp earlier than 4:00 pm, please send a note to camp with your child in the morning including the time at which you plan to pick up your child.  Please make sure your child gives the note to a counselor.  All children leaving early will be picked up at the Pavilion; please park in the horseshoe by the Stockade and walk to the Pavilion.  
 
Can I visit my child at camp?
On the first Friday of each session, parents and families are invited to join us at noon for lunch.  After lunch, follow your child’s afternoon schedule through an activity period, spread, and free swim!
 
Will my child be with his/her friends?
We do our best to honor “cabin” requests.  There is a place on the registration form to indicate if there are campers you would like your child to be grouped with for the session.  We form our groups by age, so campers closer together in age are more likely to be placed in the same group.
 
Yes, Camp Wing Day Camp is fully accredited by the American Camp Association.

How do I register?
You can register online here.
 
Is there a deposit?
Yes.  There is a non-refundable deposit of $100 per session, per camper.
 
When is my balance due?
Your balance is due 60 days prior to the start of camp.  If you register within 60 days of camp starting, you must pay the full amount at registration.  You will receive an email with your invoice indicating your remaining balance.
 
Can we see the camp before camp begins?
Yes!  Please visit it us for our Open House.
 
What is the Privacy/Security Policy?
Crossroads respects privacy of users and does not collect identifying information without the user’s permission.  All information is encrypted using secure sockets (SSL) industry standard software.
 
What is the Refund Policy?
All refunds if applicable with the terms of our Registration Policy will be provided as a credit to the credit card used at the time of the purchase within (5) five business days.
 
Extended day/field trips/overnight
 
Do you offer any extended days?
Yes!  It is offered mornings from 7:30 until 9 am and includes breakfast.  Also in the afternoon from 4:00 – 6 pm and includes a snack.
 
What do they do during extended days?
Recognizing that early in the morning and later in the afternoon, many children are less active than during the main part of the camp day, we offer a mix of sport/active and quieter activities during these times and allow campers to choose dependent on their energy level and particular interest at that time.  Please park in the lot and walk to the Pavilion.  In the morning, you will need to check your child in with a staff member.  In the afternoon, you must show your ID to the staff member supervising check-out before leaving with your child.

Health Info
 
Is there a nurse at camp?
Yes, we have a nurse and health center staff at Camp Wing Day Camp.  
 
What if my child needs to take medication during the day?
Our health center staff will be available on check-in days for parents to turn over any medication that children need at camp.  All medication must be in the original, labeled bottle in order for the nurse to accept the medication.  The health staff must have written information from the parent/guardian describing the amount, time and type of medication each camper must receive.  
 
What if my child gets sick?
The health and safety of your child is very important to us.  We have full time health care professionals, including registered nurses, on site whose job it is to ensure that care for everything from minor injuries to emergencies are handled with your child’s best interest in mind.  Parents will be immediately contacted if an important medical concern arises.  If your child is ill, he or she can rest in the health center supervised by the health staff.  If he or she is feeling very sick or does not feel better after basic care, we will contact a parent or guardian to pick up the child at camp.  
 
Our camps must comply with regulations of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and be licensed by the local board of health.
 
Swimming
 
How does swimming at camp work?
On the first day of your child’s first session each summer, his or her ability in the water will be evaluated. This enables our swim staff to place your child in the appropriate group for lessons. Lifeguards are always at the pool whenever children are inside the gate (not only when they are in the water) and additional staff are in the water with campers during evaluations, swim lessons, and free swim. Only campers able to demonstrate ability and comfort in deeper water will wear a “deep end tag” and be allowed to swim in the deep end of the pool. Campers are not required and do not need to bring/wear inflatable devices in the pool, but if you prefer that your child does wear them, you should send them to camp clearly labeled with your child’s name, and talk with the Camp Director or Waterfront Director. Crossroads adheres to all American Camp Association and State Department standards.
 
My child doesn’t know how to swim!
We provide swimming lessons for all campers, regardless of ability every day. On the first day of your child’s first session, his or her ability in the water will be evaluated. This enables our swim staff to place your child in the appropriate group for lessons. Campers will be re-evaluated during lessons and at the end of the session.
 
Are there lifeguards?
Yes!  There are always Red Cross certified lifeguards at the pool whenever children are inside the gate (not just when they are in the water) and additional staff are in the water with campers during evaluations, swim lessons and free swim. 
 
Lunch/Allergies
 
Does my child need to bring a lunch?
Yes.  All campers should bring their own lunch every day.  Please pack your child’s lunch in a disposable brown paper bag.  Write his or her first and last name clearly on the bag.  The camp will store your child’s lunch in the refrigerator.  For storage reasons, brown paper bags are convenient; also, campers will not want to carry around a heavy cooler or insulated bag for the rest of the afternoon.  
 
What if my child has allergies/food restrictions?
Campers eat lunch with their group and counselor.  Just like at school, sometimes campers trade or share parts of their lunch.  If your child has allergies to food, it is very important for your child AND our staff to know about it!  Please make a note of allergies on your health form when registering and on opening day.  We can store their lunch in a different location.  Camp Wing Day Camp is not Peanut or Tree Nut Free.  If your child is not allowed to eat foods that aren’t provided from home, please tell your child and his/her counselor.  
 
My child forgot his/her lunch!  What do I do?
If your child forgets their lunch, swimsuit etc, please call the office to let us know.  You can bring items to the camp office (take Entrance B) and we will make sure your camper receives their belongings.
